Paul is reminding the church of Colossi that Christ is the Creator and all things consist because of Him. Jesus Christ is above all things, and we should be putting Him above everything in our life. We have been graciously given the gift of salvation, and it's only because of Him that we have eternal life. Therefore, we ought to put Him before anything. God should be number one in our life, not just on Sundays. It's imperative that we start our day off with spending time with Him in Bible reading and prayer. We can't possible make right choices, discerning decisions, and have strength in this world with Him. Don't allow yourself to disregard the Lord in your life today. He is the one that keeps the seasons going, the earth rotating, the stars shining, life-sustaining, and a lot more. If He cares about those things how much more does He care about you who is made in His image. God wants to have first place in our life because he has created us, redeemed us, and bought us with His own precious blood. Never forsake the relationship He wants to have with you. Give God first place in your life and put Him above everything.
